A top goalkeeper for FC Dallas in MLS and a recent addition to the Indonesia national team, known for his elite shot-stopping and individual honors like MLS Save of the Year.
Did you know?
Maarten Paes's deep connection to Indonesia is rooted in his family's incredible history. His maternal grandmother, Nel Appels-van Heyst, lived in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) for ten years and was a survivor of an internment camp for Dutch women and children during World War II.
In 2024, Paes earned an impressive individual honor in Major League Soccer (MLS) by being selected for the MLS All-Star Game. That same year, he also won the prestigious MLS Save of the Year award.
Before moving to FC Dallas, Paes spent four seasons playing in the Eredivisie, the top professional football league in the Netherlands, for FC Utrecht, where he made 44 appearances for the senior side.
