    How do you verify that the LED output on a renewed device is still within the original performance range?
    Every renewed unit goes through the same optical calibration protocol as a new one. We use a calibrated power meter to measure output at multiple points on the panel. Red (633 nm) and NIR (830 nm) wavelengths must fall within ±3 nm of target and irradiance must be at least 90% of the original spec (30 mW/cm²). If it doesn’t meet that threshold, the device is recycled for parts.
    Do renewed devices come with a warranty?
    Absolutely. Kala Renewed devices include a 2-year limited warranty covering functionality and performance.
    Was the panel previously heavily used, and if so, how do I know its lifespan isn’t already shortened?
    We log operating hours internally. Only units with fewer than 200 total operating hours qualify for renewal program. That’s less than 2% of the panel’s expected lifetime (over 10,000 hours). If a panel was used more than that, it doesn’t get renewed.
    What components are typically replaced in the renewal process?
    We inspect and, if needed, replace the power cable, controller unit, and worn straps. Any LED array with uneven output or signs of degradation is replaced entirely, not patched. The outer silicone housing is cleaned with medical-grade disinfectant or replaced if scratched or torn. Everything is reassembled and tested before repackaging.
